Growth device for microbial biofilms
Services ~ Waterline & Pipeline Fouling
The Problem
Any movement of liquids through pipes creates conditions suitable for bacterial attachment and subsequent biofilm formation. Once formed, biofilms serve as a reservoir of opportunistic pathogens and free-floating microorganisms that can be dislodged from the biofilm and exit the waterlines. Heavy biofilms cannot be removed from storage tank walls by chemicals alone and require extensive mechanical scrubbing, high pressure spraying or a combination.
Our Solution
Innovotech test the efficacy of biocides and provides solutions:
- In potable water systems including dental water lines, hospital and city water supplies, water treatment facilities, aircraft and cruise ship water systems.
- In Oil & Gas Production Facilities - prevention or reduction of corrosion by sulfur reducing biofilms.
- For Pulp & Paper Plants - prevention of biofouling.
- On Surfaces - testing of various pipe surface materials to identify those less prone to biofilm formation.
